Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Project: PM Dahal to inaugurate field office on Wednesday



KATHMANDU: After waiting for a long time, the government has taken forward the necessary process for the construction of Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Project.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ will inaugurate the field office of the project on Wednesday.

According to Chief Executive Officer Jagat Shrestha, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the field office located in Siureni, Gorkha.

He informed that all the necessary preparations have been completed.

The local representatives and stakeholders of Dhading and Gorkha have been invited to the program to be held tomorrow.

The government has already established Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Company for the construction of the project with a total capacity of 1,200 megawatts.

The head office of the company in Kathmandu has been inaugurated by Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet on July 16.

The inauguration of the field office is expected to assure the locals and stakeholders of the government’s efforts for the execution of the project.

The government has so far distributed compensation worth Rs 34.3 billion to the project affected.

Similarly, compensation worth Rs 6.7 billion has been distributed towards houses and plants. Currently, the compensation distribution is at the final stage these days. of distributing the compensation has reached the final stage.

Those affected by the project have been demanding the formation of a competent authority for the distribution of compensation.
