KATHMANDU: A gradual decrease in monsoon activity is expected from tomorrow (Wednesday), the Weather Forecast Division has forecast.

In an update regarding the current monsoon activity across the country, the Division said, “As a result, the Terai region can expect reduced rainfall, while the hilly regions may experience light rain for the next few days.”

Yesterday, weather observations indicated the entry of clouds from the Tibet region of China into Nepal.

Consequently, heavy rainfall was witnessed in specific locations in Bagmati and Gandaki regions last night.

Meteorologist Binu Maharjan reported heavy rain occurrences in Sindhupalchok and Kaski districts on Monday night.

The Flood Forecasting Division also issued a warning notice regarding the potential risk of floods and landslides in Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Gorkha, Kaski, and Parbat districts.

There is a possibility of heavy rain in one or two places in Sudurpaschim and Gandaki Provinces today.

Meteorologist Maharjan predicts that the monsoon will be slightly more active today but anticipates a reduction in rainfall from tonight onward.

“Until today, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in many places in Karnali and Sudurpaschim Province, some areas in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Bagmati, and one or two places in Madhesh Province,” said Maharjan.

“However, the rainfall is expected to decrease from tomorrow,” Maharjan said.

According to Maharjan, the rainfall will gradually decrease across the entire country, and any precipitation may be more concentrated in hilly areas.
