BUTWAL: The 22nd edition of the Tilottama Gold Cup is starting in Butwal on Saturday.

Rupandehi-11 and Sudurpaschim 11 will compete in the opening match of the tournament organized by the Rupandehi District Football Association (RDFA).

RDFA General Secretary Himal Gauchan informed that the opening of the competition under the patronage of Butwal sub-metropolitan city will be at 2 pm and the match will start at 3 pm.

Two temporary parapets with a capacity of 2,500 people have been prepared along with a permanent parapet with a capacity of 5,000 for watching the competition.

The organizers have fixed the Rs 100 and 200 as ticket rates.

Eight teams, including two departments, are participating in the competition, which was stopped for four years due to the coronavirus pandemic and financial shortage.

The winner of the competition will get a prize of 11 lakh 11 thousand 111 rupees and the runner-up will get a prize of 5 lakh 55 thousand 555 rupees.

According to Gauchan, Nepal Police, APF Club, Himalaya Sherpa, Three Star, Friends Club, and Manang Marsyangdi Club will participate in the competition.

The final competition of the Gold Cup will be held on March 25. The best player in the competition will get a prize of one lakh rupees and one motorcycle.

Similarly, the best forward, goalkeeper, midfielder, defense, and coach will receive cash prizes at the rate of Rs 30,000 each.

The man of the match in each game will get a prize of Rs. 11,111 rupees.
Butwal sub-metropolitan city has decided to provide 35 lakh rupees for the competition.

The title of the 21st edition in 2019 was won by the Dauphins Club of Cameroon.

Four years ago, the winner received a cash prize of Rs 880,000 and the runner-up Nepal Police received a cash prize of Rs 550,000.

The tournament, which was established by the then Butwal Nagar Panchayat in 2031 BS and started in 2033 BS, has been conducted by the Rupandehi District Football Association for the past 23 years.
