395 jail birds, including parliamentarian Chaudhary given amnesty

KATHMANDU: Parliamentarian Arun Chaudhary, who is currently in Kailali jail, has been given amnesty on the occasion of Democracy Day (Falgun 7).

President Bidya Devi Bhandari gave amnesty on the occasion of Democracy Day to Chaudhary.

The President’s Office published a statement on Friday stating that s many as 395 jailbirds have been pardoned by President Bhandari.

Accordingly, Chaudhary along with 14 other people languishing in the Kailali prison have also been pardoned.

Chaudhary, a member of the House of Representatives, was arrested and presented to the District Court in Kailali on February 3.

He was found guilty by the district court in the arson case 9 years ago.
