National capital still excludes Karnali: NC leader Shahi

DHANGADHI: Nepali Congress Karnali Province Assembly (PA) party leader Jeevan Bahadur Shahi has said no leader from the Province was picked during the expansion of the Council of Ministers on Tuesday.

In his address today to the fifth meeting of the first convention of the Karnali Province Assembly, the leader complained that the Centre’s perception towards Karnali was yet to be changed. The Centre is still not positive towards Karnali, according to him.

As he said, many experienced leaders have won the House of Representatives elections from Karnali but the Province was excluded during Tuesday’s expansion of the Council of Ministers.

Shahi, the former Chief Minister of Karnali, was of the view that the collective thinking and unity was needed among them to redefine the Centre-Karnali relations.

“Poverty, diseases and illiteracy are perennial enemies of Karnali,” the leader said, urging the entire Province Assembly members to join hands for the holistic development of Karnali.
