EC allocates symbols to 12 parties for NA elections

KATHMANDU: In preparation for the upcoming National Assembly (NA) elections scheduled for January 25, the Election Commission has allocated election symbols to 12 registered political parties.

The decision, determined through a Commission meeting held on Sunday, was based on the proportional votes garnered by each party in the House of Representatives election.

Spokesperson Shaligram Sharma Paudel stated that the allocation of election symbols was a crucial step in the electoral process.

The chosen symbols play a significant role in representing each party on the ballot and are integral to the democratic exercise.

The political entities bestowed with election symbols include political parties such as Nepali Congress, CPN-UML, Maoist Center, Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal, Janamat Party, Unified Socialist, Nagarik Unmukti Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, Nepal Majdoor Kisan Party, Rastriya Janamorcha, and Nepal Samajwadi Party.

With the distribution of symbols, the stage is set for a competitive and vibrant electoral contest as these political parties gear up for the National Assembly elections.

The Election Commission’s approach in determining the symbol allocation ensures a fair and transparent electoral process for the benefit of the citizens and the democratic governance of the nation, Paudel said.
