Involvement of police personnel, inmates found in incident occurred at District Prison, Sankhuwasabha

SANKHUWASABHA: Involvement of some police personnel and inmates was found in the incident, said a probe committee formed to carryout investigation into incident occurred at District Prison, Sankhuwasabha.

Coordinator of the probe committee and Director at Department of Prison Management Kamal Prasad Pandey informed this.

Two jailbirds died in suspicious circumstances in the District Prison on August 9. A five-member team was formed under the coordination of Department Director Pandey after the incident and it arrived in Sankhuwasabha on Friday.

Pandey mentioned that some police personnel, security guard and seven inmates were found involved in the incident while carrying out study based on cctv footage of the prison.

The probe committee has made preparation to submit the report to the Home Ministry tomorrow. Involvement of some police personnel including Prison Security In-charge, Assistant Sub Inspector Laxmi Chaudhary and seven inmates was found in the incident, added Pandey.

According to the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, necessary investigation against all involved in the incident including In-charge Chaudhary was underway.
