Committee formed for developing local curriculum in Humla

HUMLA: Namkha rural municipality located in the northern belt of Humla district has formed a committee for developing local curriculum.

As per the decision of the Namkha rural municipality, a nine-member curriculum development committee has been formed under the leadership of Samkyap Tamang.

Its Education Committee constituted the committee to develop a curriculum in local and Tibetan language, shared Committee Chief Manaraj Budha.

The decision was made to take ahead the task of framing and developing curriculum in Limi Sambhota and Humli Bhot Lama languages with the financial assistance of the rural municipality.

The committee is mandated to develop curriculum of grade 1-8 in local language. Local language will be kept as an optional subject.

Education committee chief Budha said the local curriculum once developed would be enforced in public, private and religious schools operational within the rural municipality from upcoming fiscal year 2023/24.

Local language expert Kanjok Lama said the curriculum would incorporate the issues related to occupation/enterprises, religion, art, culture, geographical locations, fine art, sculpture and tourism.

Preparation has been made to teach Lama Bhot language in 17 public, private and religious schools of Namkha rural municipality.
