Madhes province government directs for DRR preparedness



JANAKPURDHAM: The Madhes province government has directed the government and non-government actors to engage their efforts in the preparedness of disaster risk reduction in view of the Monsoon-induced calamities.

In order to lessen the potential loss of lives and properties from natural disasters, including floods, inundation, erosion and lightning strike, the Madhes province government cautioned the stakeholders for preparedness.

As informed, the Madhes province government directed all government and non-government agencies to adopt preparedness measures for relief and rescue.

A meeting of the province disaster management executive committee comprising representatives from security agencies issued the directive for collective efforts for reducing possible loss of lives and properties, the Secretary at the Province Government’s Ministry of Home, Communications and Law, Umesh Kumar Dhakal informed.

The directive was issued to the security agencies, Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force, to keep logistic arrangements on standby for relief and rescue works, Dhakal added.
