SAFF Championship – Nepal’s first match against Kuwait



KATHMANDU: Nepal is going to start the SAFF Championship, the most prestigious tournament of South Asian football, by playing against Kuwait. Nepal will face Kuwait on the first day of the tournament, which will begin on July 21 in Bengaluru, India.

Nepal will play the second match against the host India and the third match against Pakistan in the schedule released after the group division in New Delhi, India on Wednesday. Nepal will compete against former champions India on June 24.

Similarly, Nepal will play the last match of the group stage against Pakistan on June 27.

Group B comprises the new team Lebanon, Maldives, Bhutan, and Bangladesh.
Nepal reached the finals of the previous edition and was defeated by India.

In the history of SAFF-Championship, Nepal managed to reach the final only once.

This time, two countries outside South Asia are competing in the SAFF Championship.

Six out of seven South Asian nations will participate in the SAFF Championship. Sri Lanka will not participate due to the ban from FIFA.
