Dhaulagiri sees first ascent of this season

KATHMANDU: Two nationals from Poland have successfully climbed Dhaulagiri Mountain.

The peak (8,167 meters) is the seventh-highest peak in the world. With this, the peak recorded the first climbing of this season.

According to Seven Summit Trek’s Managing Director Thaneswor Guragai, they are Bartek Ziemski and Oswald Rodrigo Pereria.

They reached the summit of the peak at 7: 30 am on Tuesday without the help of Sherpa guides.

According to the Department of Tourism, 24 males and 11 females have taken permission for the Dhaulagiri expedition in this season and the Seven Summit has facilitated the expeditions of 26 climbers.

Dhaulagiri that lies in Dhaulagiri rural municipality- 4 in Myagdi observed the first climbing on May 13, 1960, by Austrian Kurt Diemberger, German Peter Diener, Swish Ernst Forrer and Albin Schelbert and Sherpa guides Nawang Dorje and Nima Dorje.
