All party meeting concludes; NC still optimistic about getting Speaker or President



KATHMANDU: The all-party meeting convened by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has concluded.

Prime Minister Dahal had called the parties, which gave the vote of confidence to the government in the parliament on 10th of January, to Baluwatar on Tuesday afternoon.

The Prime Minister thanked all the parties for giving him a vote of confidence.

He also urged the leaders for suggestions on how to proceed in the changed situation.

Along with Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center Dahal, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli, CPN-Unified Socialist Madhav Nepal, Nepal Samajbadi Party Chairman Dr. Baburam Bhattarai, Rastriya Swatantra Party Chairman Rabi Lamichhane, Nagarik Unmukti Party Chairperson Ranjita Shrestha, Janamat Party leader Abdul Khan and independent lawmaker Amresh Kumar Singh among others were present in the meeting.

The Federal Parliament Secretariat has called for the registration of the nomination for the post of Speaker on Wednesday.

Although the meeting did not reach any conclusion on the name of the Speaker, Prime Minister Dahal asserted that Nepali Congress would also be consulted for the name of the Speaker and the President.

In the meantime, Nepali Congress leader Ramesh Lekhak said that NC is ready to discuss on the names the ruling coalition proposes for the key posts like Speaker, President, and Vice President. He added that NC is optimistic about being consulted for such positions.
