Parliament Secretariat calls for registration of nomination for Speaker



KATHMANDU: The Federal Parliament Secretariat has published the schedule for the election of the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Publishing the agenda for Wednesday, the Secretariat urged all the eligible candidates to apply for the post of Speaker between 1 pm to 4 pm on Wednesday.

The Secretariat has notified that it would hold voting for the Speaker on Thursday provided more than one candidate file their candidacy for the post.

According to CPN-UML sources, UML lawmaker Devraj Ghimire is most likely to be proposed as the coalition candidate for the post of Speaker.

The sources claimed that though lawmakers Prithvi Subba Gurung, Chhabilal Bishwakarma and Bidya Bhattrai also wished to get the post of the Speaker, UML chairman KP Oli is likely to pick Ghimire for the post.
