Election of Lumbini Province Speaker taking place today



LUMBINI: The election for the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker in Lumbini Province is taking place today (Tuesday).

Tularam Gharti of the Maoist Centre has filed candidacy for the post of Speaker of Lumbini province from the ruling alliance.

Gharti was the only candidate for the Speaker.

Bhumishwor Dhakal of the CPN (UML) proposed Gharti’s nomination while Ashish Kumar Chaudhary of Rastriya Prajatantra Party seconded it.

However, three candidacies have registered their candidature for the post of Deputy Speaker.

Menuka Khand of Rastriya Prajatantra Party from ruling alliance filed her nomination.

Indrajit Tharu of the Maoist Centre proposed Khand’s candidacy while Chandrakesh Gupta of Janamat Party seconded it.

Likewise, Bishwo Prem Pathak of the Nepali Congress and Nirmala Devi Tharu of the Nagarik Unmukti Party have also filed their nomination to the post of Deputy Speaker.
