FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: Nepal facing UAE today



KATHMANDU: Nepal is set to play against UAE in a match as part of the FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.

The first match of the second round is scheduled for tonight at 9:30 Nepali time in Dubai, UAE.

Nepal finds itself in a challenging group alongside UAE, Bahrain, and Yemen for the second round.

Ranked 69th in the FIFA rankings, UAE stands as the strongest team in the group.

Following closely, Bahrain holds the 83rd position, while Yemen is placed at 156th. Nepal currently resides at the 173rd spot.

The second round features matches played on a home-and-away basis.

Nepal is gearing up for a series of six matches, engaging in 2-2 home and away contests with all three teams in the group.

In line with the schedule, Nepal will face Yemen in their second match on November 21, with the match to be held at Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu at 7 pm.

After a victorious first-round encounter with Laos, Nepal secured its place in the second round.

The competition format dictates that the top two teams out of the four will secure qualification for the Asia Cup, while the next two will proceed to the third round of the World Cup.

Teams finishing at the bottom will enter the third stage of the Asia Cup after the World Cup qualifiers conclude.

Defenders: Sanish Shrestha, Rohit Chand, Anjan Rai, Ashish Chaudhary, Amrit Shrestha, Eric Bista, Chiring Lama, and Yogesh Gurung.

Midfielders: Laken Limbu, Utsav Rai, Kritish Ratna Chinju, Manish Dangi, Sesehang Angdambe, and Nishan Hamal.

Forwards: Anjan Bista, Ayush Ghalan, Jillespy Jung Karki, Hisub Thapalia, Sanjeev Bista, and Rajesh Pariyar.
