KATHMANDU: Chairman of the CPN-UML, KP Oli, visited the President’s Office at Shital Niwas on Wednesday to hold discussions with President Ram Chandra Paudel.
During the meeting, President Paudel and Oli, who also leads the main opposition party, delved into the ongoing political developments, particularly the disruptions in the Parliament.
President Paudel reportedly urged Chairman Oli to facilitate a conducive environment for the Parliament to function smoothly.
He emphasized that a prolonged non-functioning of the Parliament could foster pessimism among the populace and yield negative repercussions.
Notably, President Paudel has previously engaged in discussions with Speaker Devraj Ghimire, National Assembly Speaker Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, and other stakeholders at Shital Niwas, with the aim of resolving the parliamentary deadlock.
The CPN-UML has been continuously obstructing parliamentary proceedings, demanding the establishment of a high-level committee to investigate the one-quintal gold smuggling case.
