Kailali district sans electricity for past 16 days



KAILALI: Kailali district has been facing scorching heat and fear of flood for the past couple of weeks.

People are scared of possible flash floods no sooner it starts raining in the district.

It can be easily presumed the extent of problems people are facing in the absence of electricity during the present hot time.

There has been no electricity in Janaki rural municipality-6, Jagatpur of Kailali for the past 16 days.

Hundreds of families in Jagatpur village have been deprived of electricity services after the transmitter here turned dysfunctional on July 31.

Locals commented that they were compelled to stay in the dark and survive a troubled life due to the disruption of electricity service for long. Nanda Bahadur Neupane, a local, said, it was very difficult to survive life in the absence of electricity in the flooding times.

“There is a fear of snake and insects during the night times. Besides, the hot wave does not allow to sleep well”, he said, adding there is no certainty for the resumption of smooth electricity services.

The children and senior citizens have been mostly affected in absence of electricity service. “I have two small children. They could not sleep over the night due to hot temperature”, commented Samira Chaudhary, a local.
