Koshi CM Thapa set to expand Cabinet

BIRATNAGAR: Uddhav Thapa, the Chief Minister of Koshi Province, is gearing up for his second cabinet expansion.

Reliable sources suggest that CM Thapa is in the process of appointing Gayananda Mandal, a member of the Provincial Assembly, to assume the role of Minister of State for Industries, Agriculture, and Cooperatives.

The Chief Minister’s Secretariat confirmed that preparations are underway to administer the oath of office and secrecy to Mandal today itself.

Meanwhile, the position of Speaker in the Provincial Assembly remains vacant, awaiting a successor.

As per constitutional provisions, if the Deputy Speaker is unable to preside over a meeting, the senior-most member is designated to lead the session.

In such an event, Chief Minister Thapa will not be subject to a vote of confidence.
