As many as 7,636 Nepali Army personnel stands prepared for disaster management

KATHMANDU: A total of 7,636 Nepali Army personnel have been kept in a ready position for disaster management.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) said a total of 2,125 Nepal Police personnel and 1,903 Armed Police Force personnel would be deployed for disaster risk management.

Another 74 rescue divers of the APF, Nepal are also kept in the ready position, it said.

In view of upcoming monsoon-related disasters, the government has ensured a sufficient number of skilled human resources required for disaster management including search and rescue operations.

The number of skilled human resources has increased to 11,663 this year from 1,484 the previous year.

This number is of trained human resources having expertise in disaster management.

CEO of the NDRRMA Anil Pokharel said that the police personnel would be mobilized in every district but the trained human resource would be deployed considering the specific disasters.
