There has been much media trial in Bhutanese refugee case, let there be a fair investigation: NC

KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC) has expressed its concern over the social media allegations against its leaders and said that there has been much media trial into the fake Bhutanese Refugee Scam.

Speaking at a press conference organized to clarify the party’s position on the fake refugee case, NC Spokesperson and Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat reiterated on the fair investigation on the case.

He assured that NC would surely cooperate in the investigation of the case and added that no culprits should be spared and no innocent people should be victimized.

He regretted that there was a ‘media trial’ going on in social networks and some media, and that there was an attempt to make innocent people guilty.

Spokesperson Dr. Mahat said that even though no evidence has been found NC central member Dr. Arju Rana Deuba has been defamed circulating fake audio on social media.

He  informed that Dr. Deuba has already filed a petition at police seeking investigation of the fake audio.

Regarding former Home Minister Khand’s involvement in the fake refugee scam, the NC Spokesperson expressed his belief that Khand is innocent and would prove it soon.

Responding to the media query about why the party President maintained his mum on the issue, Dr. Mahat said that it was all not to interfere in the issue under investigation.
