Parliamentary committee holds first meeting

KATHMANDU: The very first meeting of the Industry, Commerce, Labour and Consumer Interests Committee under the House of Representatives (HoR) concluded on Tuesday.

On the commencement of the meeting, committee senior-most member (by age) Ranendra Baraili welcomed the members to the meeting held at the Singha Durbar-based committee’s meeting hall.

Then committee members introduced to each other. A meeting of the lower house on April 28 endorsed the names of 25 members to remain on the committee.

It comprises eight members from the CPN (UML), seven of the Nepali Congress, three each from the CPN (Maoist Centre) and Rastriya Swatantra Party and one each from the CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party, Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Janamat Party.

Committee member Ram Kumar Poudel briefed the meeting about the committee and its jurisdictions.
