District Public Prosecutors’ Office records statement of 11 accused

KATHMANDU: The District Public Prosecutors’ Office, Kathmandu has recorded the statement of 11 accused on the charge of their involvement in fake Bhutanese refugees scam.

Police have arrested a total of 13 people on the charge of their involvement in sending Nepalis to the USA under the guise of Bhutanese refugees.

Meanwhile, the District Public Prosecutors’ Office halted recording the statement of former Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand after he informed that he was not feeling well on Monday.

He remains in custody on the charge of his involvement in a fake Bhutanese refugees scam.

The Office also recorded the statement of former Deputy Prime Minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi on Monday.

Rayamajhi, accused of involvement fake Bhutanese refugees scam, was remanded to judicial custody for three days today itself for investigation.

Three of the accused are absconding after an arrest warrant was released for them.

The District Court on Sunday had remanded 12 persons, who were already arrested in custody, for four days while Rayamajhi was sent to judicial custody for three days on Monday.

He was arrested on Sunday. Police have already issued arrest warrant against Niraj Rai and Pratik Thapa and they are absconding.

A total of 106 victims have filed complaints against them on the charge of cheating Rs 232 million.
