Cloudy weather expected across the country today



KATHMANDU: The weather across Nepal is expected to remain generally cloudy today, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

The weather is currently influenced by partial westerly winds, along with a high-pressure system in the upper atmosphere and a low-pressure area in the lower atmosphere near eastern Nepal, the Department’s Weather Forecasting Division said.

This afternoon, skies will remain generally cloudy across the country. There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province and Lumbini Province.

Similar conditions may occur at one or two locations in the hilly and mountainous areas of Karnali Province and Sudurpashchim Province, as well as in a few places in the Terai region of Lumbini Province.

Tonight, the hilly and mountainous areas, including Gandaki Province and Lumbini Province, are expected to remain generally cloudy, while other parts of the country will experience partly cloudy conditions.

The Division has also forecast the possibility of light rain and snowfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi Province, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province and Lumbini Province, as well as at one or two locations in the Terai areas of Lumbini Province.
