KATHMANDU: The government has removed the provision of two-year in issuing labor permits for foreign employment.

The provision was removed by a Prime-Ministerial decision, according to the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security.

A new provision has been made to issue labor permits determining the period on the basis of the contract permit to work in the destination country and on the basis of the contract signed between the employers and workers.

Earlier, the government had been issuing two-year work permit to all going for overseas employment.

The government has arranged to provide re-labor permits from Nepali diplomatic missions in destination countries, said Spokesperson at the Ministry, Danduraj Ghimire.

Nepali migrant workers in the destination countries had to face many problems for the lack of effective implementation of this provision.
