10-party coalition leaders meeting to ‘forge consensus’ on Vice Presidential candidate today



KATHMANDU: In a bid to finalize a common candidate for the post of Vice President, a coalition of 10 political parties is holding a meeting today as well.

A meeting held on Wednesday at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar ended inconclusively.

According to CPN-Maoist Center leader Shakti Basnet, the meeting discussed on various issues including the vice presidential election and the vote of confidence.

He said that the meeting between the 10 parties ended positively and they will sit on Thursday and take further decisions.

“There was a discussion about establishing an understanding between the 10 parties for the vice presidential election. The discussion has been positive,” leader Basnet said, adding, “A decision will be made on this issue on Thursday.”

He informed that the senior leaders of the ruling alliance on Wednesday also discussed issues, including cabinet expansion and power-sharing during the meeting.
