Accidents investigation commission begins work

POKHARA: The “Aircraft Accident Investigation Commission” has started work to find out the truth about the plane crash of Yeti Airlines that took place in Pokhara on Sunday morning.

Jagannath Niraula, spokesperson of Civil Aviation Authority Nepal (CAAN) informed that the Commission has started its work from today. According to him, the “black box” of the plane was found this morning.

The black box has already been submitted to the commission.

The black box is considered important in finding the cause of the plane crash. The black box contains ‘flight radar record’ and ‘cockpit view record’.

The government had formed a five-member commission of inquiry to find out the truth about the accident of the Yeti Airlines plane that crashed on Sunday. Former secretary Nagendra Ghimire is the coordinator of the commission.

Also, the members include aviation experts Deepak Prakash Bastola (retired captain) and Sunil Thapa (retired captain) and air maintenance engineer Ekrajjung Thapa. Budhisagar Lamichhane, joint secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, is the member secretary of the commission.

The commission has been constituted to identify the cause of the accident and give a report with recommendations to be adopted to prevent such accidents from happening again in the future. The commission has been given a period of 45 days.
