BIRATNAGAR: Koshi Province’s newly-appointed Chief Minister, Kedar Karki, is set to form a small cabinet today (Sunday).
In the initial phase, one minister from Nepali Congress and at least one from CPN-UML will be included into the cabinet.
Rewati Raman Bhandari, the chief whip of the UML parliamentary party, confirmed that a cabinet of minimum three and maximum four members will be formed on Sunday.
As Sunday is observed as a public holiday, Chief Minister Karki will notify the provincial assembly secretariat to conduct the vote of confidence as soon as the office reopens on Monday.
Bhandari stated, “An agreement has been reached to hold the vote of confidence on Wednesday itself,” further adding, “if there is any delay, the decision on the vote of confidence may be deferred until Thursday.”
Sources have indicated that the CPN-UML will secure the position of the Speaker of the Koshi Province, while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party will be assigned the Deputy Speaker role.
