Heavy rainfall likely in Lumbini and Sudurpaschim Provinces

KATHMANDU: The weather forecast for the country today indicates a partly to generally cloudy sky with rainfall expected in certain areas, driven by the influence of a monsoon low-pressure system.

This system currently affects South-Eastern Uttar Pradesh and the surrounding regions of Nepal.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is being witnessed in a few locations in the Gandaki and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Furthermore, there is a likelihood of moderate to heavy rainfall, along with thunder and lightning, in specific areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Moderate rainfall is expected in some parts of the Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, as well as one or two locations in the Madhesh province.

In particular, Sudurpaschim and Lumbini provinces may experience heavy rain with thunder and lightning at one or two locations.

This inclement weather could lead to a slight rise in river levels, increasing the risk of landslides, floods, and land erosion, according to the Division.

Consequently, there may be disruptions and potential threats to various aspects of people’s lives, including agriculture, daily routines, and transportation by road and air, it said.

The Weather Forecasting Division has urged people to take necessary precautions to minimize the potential for damage and inconvenience.
