Bhanu Prize given to Prof Kandel

KATHMANDU: This year’s Bhanu Prize has been given away to litterateur Prof Ghanshyam Kandel.

The prize worth Rs 125,000 established by Nepali Education Council was handed over to Prof Kandel on Friday on the occasion of the 210th Bhanu Jayanti.

Former Chancellor of Nepal Academy Ganga Prasad Upreti offered the cash prize to Prof Kandel amid a function in the Capital City.

During the event, Upreti praised the contributions of Adikavi Bhanubhakta Acharya for the development of Nepali language and literature.

The Council prizes literary figures with this prize every year for their outstanding contributions to the Nepali language, literature, culture, and spiritual sectors.

The Council was established in 2008 BS.
