NC leader Arju Rana complains about character sabotage

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Arju Rana Deuba has objected to the news and allegations linking her name with the gang involved in a fake Bhutanese refugee scam and complained that her character has been sabotaged by the ‘baseless’ charges.

Taking a special time in the House of Representatives on Monday, she said that she was defamed by making a fake audio.

Leader Deuba said that even though she submitted a request to the Central Investigation Bureau and Cyber Crime Cell of Nepal Police six days before requesting for the forensic examination of the said audio, she has not yet received a response.

“The fake audio is not only mine, there are such audios in other’s names as well, why is my name being pronounced?” she complained, adding, “To be honest, this is not character assassination, this is the rape of my character.”

She interpreted the incident as an attempt to discourage women trying to make career in politics.
