NC’s NP Saud set to become Foreign Minister, to take oath Sunday



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) has sent the name of lawmaker NP Saud for the post of Foreign Minister.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, who is preparing to expand the cabinet for the eighth time, is going to appoint Saud as the foreign minister as per NC decision.

According to sources close to Baluwatar, Saud is taking oath on Sunday at 3 pm.

As per the agreement in the ruling coalition, the NC has agreed to take eight ministries. NC previously sent only four ministers to the cabinet.

Prime Minister Dahal expanded the Cabinet for the seventh time on March 1.

NC vice-president Purna Bahadur Khadka has led the party in the CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Prachanda-led cabinet.

Khadka is the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense, Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat is Finance Minister, Ramesh Rijal is Industry, Commerce and Supply Minister, and Sita Gurung is the Urban Development Minister in the cabinet.
