Nepal Airlines to operate direct flight to New Delhi and Kuala Lumpur from Bhairahawa

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) is preparing to operate a direct flight from Bhairahawa-based Gautam Buddha International Airport to New Delhi in India and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia from the end of coming May.

NAC Spokesperson Ramesh Poudel shared that process (flight permit) has been initiated for the direct flight from Bhairahawa to these two destinations. Works towards this such as management of human resources, technical preparation, and marketing have been accelerated.

There will be at least a flight in a week to both destinations, informed Spokesperson Poudel, adding that the increase in the number of flights could be considered after the demand of the market.

“We have already submitted an application for a flight permit for both countries. Bookings would be opened once the permit is obtained,” he explained.

NAC’s national-flag carrier Nepal Airlines has been conducting flights to both of these international destinations from Kathmandu at present.

NAC is confident that the direct flight from Bhairahawa to these destinations would further attract Buddhist tourists to Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha.

At present, Jazeera Airways of Kuwait is currently operating its flight from the Airport.
