PM Dahal planning to seek vote of confidence on March 20

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has planned to take the vote of confidence on March 20.

According to Maoist Center sources, Prime Minister Dahal has started preparations to take the vote of confidence from the House of Representatives again on March 20.

Dahal, who was appointed as the Prime Minister on December 25, took the oath of office and secrecy on December 26.

Dahal, who became the Prime Minister with the support of the alliance of CPN-UML, Rastriya Prajatantra Party and Rashtriya Swatantra Party, took the vote of confidence from the Federal Parliament on January 9. He got the support of 10 parties including UML and Nepali-Congress. Two votes were cast against him.

In the meantime, due to the presidential election, the UML-initiated alliance broke down, and the UML and the RPP withdrew their support and left the government.

As the Constitution provisions that the Prime Minister must seek a vote of confidence from the House of Representatives within 30 days provided the alliance party withdraws the support, the Prime Minister has to take the vote of confidence.

The Maoist Center has asked its lawmakers not to leave the valley before March 20.
