LALITPUR: In a crackdown on illegal gambling activities, the District Police Complex Lalitpur arrested eight individuals, including a retired Nepali Army Major General, during a targeted operation.

Acting on specific intelligence, police executed a raid on Tuesday evening at Classic Tower in Lalitpur Hattiban, resulting in the confiscation of cash amounting to Rs 1.6 lakh 82 thousand.

The arrested individual, identified as retired army officer Hom Lawati, was taken into custody from a business premises located on the sixth floor of A Block in Classic Tower, Lalitpur-15.

Investigations revealed that the flat, serving as a gambling den, is linked to Lawati’s relatives.
