48 people injured in Jajarkot earthquake discharged from hospital after treatment

BANKE: Forty-eight of those people injured in the earthquake that occurred in Jajarkot on November 3 and admitted to Bheri Hospital in Nepalgunj have returned home after receiving treatment and recuperating.

Now, only six injured patients from Jajarkot and Rukum West are under treatment at the Bheri Hospital, said Naresh Shrestha, the resource person at the District Emergency Operation Centre, Banke.

“Most of the patients have returned home after recovery. Now there are only six patients who underwent surgery left at Bheri Hospital. They are being treated in the ‘paying ward’ as their condition is normal,” he said.

A separate Disaster Ward was set up at the hospital to provide medical treatment to the people injured in the disaster and who had come to Bheri Hospital seeking treatment.

The Ward has now been vacated after all patients returned home following treatment.

Altogether 58 people injured in the earthquake were brought to Bheri Hospital for treatment.

Of them, 48 have been discharged after treatment three had been sent to Kathmandu for advanced medication and one had died while being brought to the hospital.

Chief District Officer of Banke, Shrawan Kumar Pokharel said arrangements have been made for free transportation of the patients to their homes from hospital following their recovery.

One hundred and fifty-four people were killed while 346 were injured due to the 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Jajarkot at 11.47 pm on November 3.

The epicentre of the quake was at Ramidanda of Jajarkot and it caused much damage to life and property in Jajarkot and Rukum West.

Twenty-six thousand 557 private houses were completely damaged and 35,455 houses partly damaged in the earthquake.
