Madhya Paschim University yet to clear arrears of Rs 1 billion

BIRENDRANAGAR: The arrears of Madhya Paschim University have reached Rs 1.12 billion in a decade.

The University administration made public the arrears by organizing a press meet at its central office in Birendranagar, Surkhet on Friday.

University Registrar Prof Dr Narayan Prasad Poudel said the arrears were Rs 8.398 million in the establishment year, 2068/69 BS. But it has now reached Rs 1.12 billion in the fiscal year, 2078/79 BS.

Audit of Rs 124.051 million arrears has been conducted and around Rs 1 billion rupees arrears are still to be cleared, added Registrar Poudel.

The highest amount of arrears—Rs 405.96 million (36.04 percent) was in the fiscal year 2075/76 BS.

Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Dr Nanda Bahadur Singh, shared the press meet was organized to clear the confusion created by the news related to arrears.

The news was disseminated on social networking sites and media indicating that all of the arrears were incurred in his term.
