DHANGADHI: An individual has gone missing after jumping into the Mahakali River in Darchula.

According to police, this disappearance occurred when a person jumped into the Mahakali River from the suspension bridge that connects Nepal and India, located at the district headquarters in Khalanga on Thursday morning.

Darchula’s Chief Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Shiva Bahadur Singh, confirmed the missing of 45-year-old Gyaniram Bhul, a resident of Lasku in Mahakali Municipality-1.

A team comprising members from the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force has launched a search operation in hopes of locating Bhul.

Sources revealed that Bhul, who was en route from Khalanga to the Indian market in Dharchula, encountered a request for identity documents from the Indian Border Security Force (SSB).

He was sent back to Nepal as he was unable to provide the required identification.
