CIB takes statement from former Chief Secretary Paudel

KATHMANDU: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police has taken a statement from former Chief Secretary Leelamani Paudel in the Lalita Niwas Land Grab case.

On Sunday afternoon, CIB sent for Poudel, who is also the former Nepali ambassador to China, and testified to him for four hours.

CIB took a statement from Paudel as the latter was Chief Secretary during then Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai’s cabinet decision on the land under Samarjung Company’s ownership at Baluwatar.

According to sources, Paudel stated that the role of the Chief Secretary is not executive and he only approved the file which was commented on by the then Secretary.

Poudel said that he facilitated the comments raised by the then Land Reforms Secretary Dinesh Hari Adhikari only to submit it to the Cabinet and worked for implementation after the decision of the Cabinet.
