27-year-old Sujan to pierce tongue this year



BHAKTAPUR: 27-year-old Sujan Bagh Shrestha is piercing his tongue in the Bhaktapur’s biggest cultural festival Biska: Jatra this year.

During the Jatra, the tongue piercing jatra is held on the second day of the New Year i.e. 2nd Baisakh at Bode in Madhyapur Thimi.

50-year-old Buddhakrishna Bagh Shrestha has pierced his tongue nine times so far. This year, his 27-year-old son Sujan Bagh Shrestha is continuing this tradition by piercing his tongue.

Buddhakrishna is an ambulance driver by profession. Before that, Buddhakrishna took over the responsibility after Dai Krishnachandra Bagh Shrestha pierced his tongue twelve times.

Similarly, Jujubhai Bash Shrestha also pierced his tongue eight times.
