Sudurpaschim Province Assembly fails to elect Speaker even today

The Sudurpaschim Province Assembly has failed to elect its speaker in its second attempt on Saturday evening.

The Province Assembly, which could not elect the Speaker on 11 January, had called the lawmakers to take part in the election procedure scheduled for 6 pm Saturday.

Barshaman Pun flown to Kathmandu after health deteriorates

Former Minister of Finance and Deputy Secretary General of the CPN (Maoist Center) Barshaman Pun has been flown to Kathmandu from Rolpa after his health deteriorated on Saturday.

According to Maoist Center sources, Pun, who had reached Rolpa to take part in the program of Rolpa Samriddi Foundation, was flown to Kathmandu in a helicopter after noticing serious health issues.

PM Dahal, UML Chair Oli discuss cabinet expansion even today

Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ and Chairman of CPN-UML KP Oli discussed cabinet discussion today as well.

Prime Minister Dahal’s Secretariat said that UML Chairman Oli reached Prime Minister’s official residence on Saturday morning to discuss issues such as the expansion of the cabinet, and the election of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, among others.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives will be elected on January 19.

Narayangadh-Muglin road to open today and tomorrow

Narayangadh-Muglin road section that is closed every day for four days for construction-related work will remain open for two days — today and tomorrow — targeting the Maghe Sankranti fair at Devghatdham.

The road section will open for traffic in the afternoon of January 14 and 15. The Maghe Sankranti, one of the festivals of the Hindus, falls on January 15 this year.
