Identification of lawmakers in Koshi province set for Saturday
The Koshi Province Chief Parashuram Khapung has scheduled the identification of lawmakers for Saturday, starting at 8:00 am. The process will run from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, during which provincial assembly members, who have pledged their support to both claimants, CPN-UML backed Nepali Congress leader Kedar Karki, and Maoist Center-led alliance-backed Indra Angbo.
RPP to remain neutral in Koshi Province’s Chief Ministerial race
The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) has decided to refrain from endorsing any candidate for the Chief Minister’s position in the Koshi Province. The party said that none of the candidates seeking the party’s support met the criteria warranting their endorsement.
Cricketer Lamichhane announces withdrawal of his name from upcoming cricket rournaments
Leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane, a key member of Nepal’s National Cricket team, has decided to step back from the upcoming tournament. His announcement, made on social media, comes as he faces accusations of raping a minor. In a social medi apost, Lamichhane expressed, “It is with a heavy heart that I have decided to withdraw my name from the upcoming competitions. I am currently going through a difficult and challenging time in my life.”
Procedure ready to register names of Nepalis abroad in voter list
The Election Commission (EC) has prepared a draft of the procedure to register voter name-list of Nepali citizens residing abroad and update it, in 2080. The EC has solicited suggestions on it. As per the procedures, the Nepali citizens living in foreign countries remaining to be enlisted in the voter name list could be incorporated into the system from abroad. The EC has uploaded the draft of the procedures on its website on Thursday and urged all concerned to provide their feedback on it.
Karnali Province declared as fully-vaccinated province
The Karnali Province has been declared as the ‘fully-vaccinated province’. Social Development Minister of the provincial government, Khadga Bahadur Pokharel made this declaration amid a program organized by the Karnali Province Government, Ministry of Social Development, Health Services Directorate here.
Meeting of political parties from Asia and Europe kicks off in Kathmandu today
The 40th standing committee meeting of International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and the fifth annual meeting of Asia Europe Political Forum kicked off in Kathmandu from today. In the meeting that will run till October 15, leaders of the Asian and European political parties and experts will discuss contemporary issues related to the shared future of both continents, said Dr Rajan Bhattarai, the co-chair of the Forum and standing committee member of ICAPP.
Finance Minister Mahat urges EU to remove Nepal from security concern list
Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has urged the European Union (EU) to remove Nepal from their aviation safety concern list. He made this request in a sideline meeting with EU Commissioner Ms Jutta Urpilainen in Marrakesh of Morocco. Finance Minister is currently in Marrakesh in connection with participating in the annual meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
