NC work performance committee urges lawmaker Karki to withdraw claim for Koshi Chief Minister

BIRATNAGAR: The Work Performance Committee of the Koshi Nepali Congress (NC) has requested lawmaker Kedar Karki to withdraw his claim for the post of Chief Minister of Koshi.

The performance committee meeting held on Friday morning requested Kedar Karki and the seven lawmakers who had signed in his support to withdraw their signatures.

According to NC province parliamentary party leader Uddhav Thapa, the committee has also requested the NC Parliamentary Party in the province to follow the decision made by the ruling alliance at the federal level.

“The meeting decided to urge Koshi Parliamentary Party to maintain party unity and request Karki to withdraw his claim to the post of Chief Minister,” said Thapa. “Unless another directive comes from the party headquarters, the province committee has decided to adhere to the previous decision to uphold the political alliance in the province.”

The ruling coalition had decided to appoint Indra Angbo, the leader of the CPN-Maoist Center Parliamentary Party in Koshi, as the Chief Minister. However, eight NC lawmakers, including Kedar Karki, challenged the decision.
