Either work in the interest of Kathmandu or move Singha Durbar elsewhere: Mayor Balen

KATHMANDU: Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC), Balen Shah has asked the government either to work in favor of Kathmandu or move the Singha Durbar elsewhere.

After Mayor Shah instructed not to collect the garbage from Singha Durbar, President’s Office, and Prime Minister’s residence, the garbage has not been collected from these places since Saturday.

Writing a status on social media on Thursday, Shah said that the people of Kathmandu have no objection to moving the Singha Durbar or the federal capital.

He wrote: “Either work for the benefit of Kathmandu or move the Singha Durbar to another city.”

“We Kathmandu residents have no objection whether the Singha Durbar is moved or the capital is moved to some other place,” he said.

Mayor Shah said the people of Kathmandu need heritage, culture, art, and civilization, not politics.
