Baitadi jeep accident: Absconding driver arrested



BAITADI: Police arrested the absconding driver of the jeep that met with the fatal accident in Baitadi.

At least six persons died when the jeep (Se 1 Ja 764) met with the accident at Patan Rural Municiplaity-8, Jhaulekmode of Baitadi along the Jayaprithvi Highway linking Khodape and Bajhang on Tuesday night.

Police apprehended jeep driver Arjun Bohara, 20, of Kedarsyun, Bajhang from Dholyamode, informed Police Inspector Yogesh Khatry.

A case has been registered against the driver, police said, adding investigation is also taking place on the incident.

The accident took lives of Mane Bohora, nare Bohora, Gorakh Bohora, Man Bahadur Dhami, Birkhe Dhami and Bire Dhami.

Five other passengers had jumped away from the jeep to avoid the accident. Relatives of the deceased had staged protest on the spot on Wednesday demanding proper compensation.

They had also demanded arrest of the driver and owner. Police said that the rural municipality has agreed to province compensation to the family members of the deceased.

The accident took place when the jeep carrying Nepali workers returning from Pithauragadh of India fell down.
