NC almost finalizes names of ministers

Cabinet expansion in a day or two

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC), a major component in the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda-led government, has almost finalized the names of ministers.

Sources claimed that Prime Minister Dahal is expanding the cabinet in a couple of days – most probably on Thursday.

According to the agreement, even though NC was supposed to get eight ministries, it has sent only four ministers to the cabinet due to what has been said “factionalism dispute”.

The faction led by Dr. Shekhar Koirala took a firm stance saying it should get at least three ministries in the cabinet.

Sources claimed that NC leaders Dhanraj Gurung, NP Saud, Mohan Basnet, Dig Bahadur Limbu and Surendra Acharya are set to be appointed as ministers.

Saud and Basnet belong to the party establishment faction.

Party sources claimed that Saud will be appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, while Basnet is likely to be appointed as the Minister of Health and Population.

Dig Bahadur Limbu is likely to become the Minister of Law.
