Blacktopping begins at Khanti-Jomsom road section

JOMSOM: Blacktopping of a road linking Thasang Rural Municipality’s center Khanti and Mustang district headquarters Jomsom has started.

The task of blacktopping the 16.5-km Khanti-Jomsom road section has started through the national pride, Kaligandaki Corridor, Beni-Jomsom Korala Road Project.

Project Chief Jagat Prajapati shared that the contractor Gauri-Parbati JV has started blacktopping of the Khanti-Jomsom road section through asphalt technology.

“Over a kilometer road has been so far blacktopped”, he said, adding, “The contractor now has a stock of bitumen which is sufficient for blacktopping four kilometers road section. The contractor has pledged to arrange additional bitumen and materials to blacktop the section up to Jomsom”.

Blacktopping is being done on the road having a breadth measuring 11 meters. It is being carried out after the expansion of the road and drainage and construction of walls.

It may be noted that the Pappu-Gauri-Parbati-Koshi and Neupane JV was awarded a contract of Rs 996.2 million in early 2073 BS for the road-section blacktopping.
