Geta Medical College construction will be expedited soon: PM Dahal



GETA, KAILALI: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that construction of the Geta Medical College would speed up.

The Cabinet meeting on Sunday decided to upgrade the college as the Shahid Dasharath Chand National Health Science University, the Prime Minister said while carrying out a field inspection of the college at Geta of Godabari Municipality-5 in Kailali district.

“The meeting yesterday theoretically decided to develop the college as the Shahid Dasharath Chand National Health Science University. Now, there will be efforts to run the college in practice,” he said.

Inspecting many projects undergoing in Sudurpaschim, Prime Minister Dahal recalled that during his first tenure as the Prime Minister he had pledged to work for Sudurpaschim Province.

“This time too, I started inspecting province level projects from Sudurpaschim. The national health science university, a proud project of the country, is being developed,” he said.

On the occasion, Hemraj Pujara, executive director of the Medical College Infrastructure Construction Committee, presented the construction-related report.

The constructing company has handed over 28 of the total 42 buildings and structures belonging to the college after completing their construction as per the project master-plan.

Construction of the remaining buildings and structures including road and drinking water pipeline will be complete in next five months, it has been said. The cost of the project until now is estimated to be around Rs 5.45 billion.

Started in 2066 BS at Geta in Kailali district, the project will have 600-bed hospital buildings. It aims to provide quality and cost-effective health services.
