Election of Lumbini Province Speaker to be held on Jan 17



KATHMANDU: Lumbini Province Assembly Secretariat is holding an election for the post of Speaker and Deputy Speaker on January 17.

The Lumbini Pradesh Assembly Secretariat has already published the election schedule.

According to the Secretariat, nominations for Speaker and Deputy Speaker will be held on January 16 (from 1 pm to 5 pm) and the list of candidates will be announced at 5:30 pm on the same day.

The ruling parties have decided to field a Maoist Center candidate as the Speaker and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) as Deputy Speaker.

Leela Giri of CPN-UML has already been appointed as the Chief Minister of Lumbini Province.
