Attack on Koshi Province Chief Minister as group targets vehicle
A group of individuals attacked Koshi Province Chief Minister Kedar Karki on Tuesday. The assault took place in Damak Municipality-5 while CM Karki was en route to attend an event in Jhapa. The group hurled stones at CM Karki’s vehicle, resulting in broken windows. Fortunately, the police reported that no injuries were sustained by the Chief Minister. The assailants displayed black flags towards CM Karki, and authorities are currently working to locate and apprehend the individuals involved in the attack.
Nepalis trapped in Russian Army make desperate pleas for rescue
In what can be termed as a tragic turn of events, Nepali citizens who joined the Russian army, lured by promises of lucrative earnings, find themselves trapped in the war zone, prompting urgent calls for their rescue. Rajkumar, a young entrepreneur from Birtamod in Jhapa, fell victim to the deceitful assurances of Surya Rai from Morang, who convinced him that joining the Russian Army would bring substantial monthly earnings.
CIAA reaches SC against Special Court decisions
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has lodged an appeal in the Supreme Court, expressing dissatisfaction with the judgments rendered by the Special Court. Narahari Ghimire, the Authority’s spokesperson, conveyed that the appeal was filed due to dissatisfaction with the outcomes of several cases involving allegations of bribery and corruption, which were presented by the commission before the special court on various occasions.
Police open fire in Lalitpur during drug pursuit, one arrested
In a pursuit of drug dealers at Jhamsikhel, Lalitpur, police resorted to firing guns on Tuesday. The Kathmandu Valley Crime Division revealed that the gunshots were fired during the pursuit of the suspects. During the operation, one individual, identified as Abinash Rai, was arrested, and he sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg. Along with the arrest, the police seized drugs and a pistol.
Managing Director of Nepal Oil Corporation resigns
The Managing Director of Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC), Umesh Prasad Thani, has submitted his resignation from his position. Thani forwarded his resignation letter to the Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies, Ramesh Rijal. According to close sources to the Minister, Thani did not disclose any specific reasons for his resignation in the letter.
Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Surges by 36.68 Points
The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) witnessed a substantial increase of 36.68 points on Tuesday, the third trading day of the week. Despite a decline on Monday following the active trading session on Sunday, the market rebounded with a noteworthy surge on Tuesday. Closing at 1985.44 points, the NEPSE index soared by 36.68 points on Tuesday. A total of 95,433 transactions of 1,24,631,168 shares were traded, accumulating a business worth NPR 4,30,90,19,196.
