Nepal Airlines official apprehended from TIA on forgery allegation



KATHMANDU: The police have arrested a Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) official who was allegedly involved in producing forged documents to facilitate foreign travel on visitor visas from.

The accused, Home Nath Pokharel, currently employed at NAC was apprehended at Tribhuvan International Airport in connection to his alleged involvement in facilitating individuals with forged documents for overseas travel, stated an official from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Division.

Pokharel, originally from Kamal Rural Municipality-2 in Jhapa, resides in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-10. Concerns regarding suspicious documents used by individuals traveling abroad prompted investigations, leading the police to uncover a potential document forgery racket.

The Valley Crime Division has been conducting investigations into 1,332 suspicious tourist entry permits.

SP Ravindra Regmi of the Division disclosed that during the investigation into these documents, it was revealed that the group had been producing fake documents and affixing visitor visas, allowing the general public to travel abroad.

Previously, the police had arrested thirteen individuals, including consultancy directors, in connection to similar alleged fraudulent activities.
